The state of Himachal is rich in scenic beauty and breathtaking landscapes. As the name suggests Himachal rests in the lap of the mighty Himalayas and has numerous number of famous destinations. Himachal is the home to various tourist destinations and is popular due to its tough terrains . It is due to such terrains Himachal is emerging as a popular trekking destination in India. Here is a list of some the treks which Himachal is offering:

  • Trek to Triund:

    Located in the Dhauladhar mountain ranges,Triund is amongst the most popular treks of Himachal Pradesh and is quite an easy trek. Triund provides a perfect view of the Dhauladhar ranges on side and Kangra Valley on the other side. The trek to triund starts from Dharamkot in Mcleodganj. This route is frequently used by the shepherds of Kangra Valley and Chamba as you can come across the gaddis on your way to Triund. In this route you will be able to view the highest point of the Dhauladhar ranges known as Hanuman Tibba. The trek to triund is commutable around the year except the December to February.

          Difficulty level: Easy

          Time to Visit: March to November

          Duration of trek: 3-4 days

  • Trek to Kinner Kailash:

    Kinner Kailash is a mountain located in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is considered sacred by both Hindus as well as Buddhists. According to a popular belief, the mountain of Kinner Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. It is located at the height of 6050 meters and has a 79 foot vertical rock which changes color during the course of the day. The experiences during this trek are enthralling as the route to Kinner Kailash is full of deep gorges and dangerous landscapes.

          Difficulty Level: Challenging

  • Trek to Spiti Valley:

    This trek is one of the most challenging treks in India as it covers the untouched valleys of Komik, Dhankar, Kaza, Kibber and Tabo. The Spiti valley is home to some of the highest villages in the world and beautiful landscapes. This trek of Spiti valley starts from Parvati Valley of Kullu and ends up in Pin Valley of Spiti. The trek trails from Snowy fields and Glaciers providing you with an unforgettable experience. Moreover one can take a hot water bath at Kheerganga.

  • Trek to Chandertaal Lake:

    This trek is also nestled in the Spiti Valley and leads to the famous Chandertaal Lake also called as The Lake of the Moon. The Chandertaal Lake keeps changing its color throughout the day and is in crescent shape. The starting point of the trek in from Barachala Pass and you can also have a look of Surajtaal Lake.

           Difficulty Level:  Challenging

  • Trek to Malana Village: 

    Another a very famous trekking route of Himachal Pradesh is the Malana village trek. Malana village is known to be the world`s oldest democracy. This treks leads to Barachala Pass through Chanderkhani pass. The awesome view of the valley will definitely fascinate you. You can easily take a view of Deotibba and Dhauladhar ranges. Malana village is also famous for its cannabis plantation as the weed produced here is world famous.

          Duration of trek: 2-3 days

  • Trek to Bhabha Valley:

    Bhabha Valley lies in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The Bhabha valley starts from Kaafnoo in Kinnaur and ends in the cold desert of Spiti. The Bhabha valley is an ideal destination for those who wish to see the divine beauty of Himachal. One can get a chance to interact with the Gaddis on the way and have a walk in the apple orchards of the bhabha valley. This trek leads you to Pin Parvati pass which serves as a passage to Chandertaal Lake in spiti. At Chandertaal Lake you can enjoy the crystal clear waters of the moon lake and river crossing through wooden bridges.

  • Trekking gear which includes Tents, Sleeping Bags, Ropes, Mats and walking Stick
  • Torchlight and extra pair of batteries
  • Wash proof backpacks
  • Jackets, Trekking shoes and suitable pair of clothing
  • Extra pair of shoes and socks
  • Towels and undergarments
  • First Aid kit which should include all the basic medicine
  • Matchbox or a lighter
  • Handy cam or a camera
  • Energy drinks and energy bars

 

These are only a few treks which I have mentioned but there are many more equally good. So all you have to do is make up your mind and plan a holiday to any of these treks.
